Oliver and Phineas Meet

Finn was born at 8:30 and around 10:00am Oliver met him. We had then new room to ourselves, our big birthing party, and we all staged the scene just right. I was holding Phineas on the bed and screaming for Oliver as he ran down the hallway with James. James was our night watchman and took care of Oliver in the morning. In fact, Laurie, James, and Koryn took the day off work to be involved in this Tuesday morning affair.
We asked Oliver who this baby was and he said "Ffaa" and pointed to my belly. He totally understood that I didn't have a baby in my belly, but he was here now to hold. He asked to hold Phineas right away and wanted his brother's blanket off to admire his toes and feet. He just wanted to hold those little feet.

There's Koryn!

When I thought that Oliver had enough I moved to take Phineas off his lap and he looked at me and said "no" "more" (well, really "moooooowr"). He continued to hold his brother for longer and when he was ready told me it was okay to take Finn.
After the first few minutes of hanging out with the baby and admiring his beautiful feet and hands, Oliver had a wonderful time figuring out how the hospital beds moved up and down. I know it's only been two months since this happened but I realize as I remember back to those moments that Oliver has grown and learned so much since then. I feel like the way I remember talking to him was like talking to a baby and he is capable of understanding and responding to so much more reason now.

We hung out for about two hours. Our wonderful hospital team, including James now, ate sooo well thanks to Aimee Churchill who brought us Stonefire Grill macaroni and cheese and ceasar salad. ooooohhh, so yummy. We lived it up in that room with our friends. When things were dying down, Oliver took Koryn's hand and started walking to the door. We told him he would get to go sleep over with the Parkers and he was ready for a change, it seems. It was such a good ending to a huge first meeting. These boys are brothers!
